I would REALLY appreciate it if someoe could give me a link to a free one *if it exists). otherwise should i just go ahead and make it up as i go? They don’t look too difficult, but maybe i am wrong…

:roflhard: Sorry, I have to chuckle, as the Fiber Trends clog pattern is the most convoluted, how-the-heck-did-they-think-of-that pattern I have seen to date. It’s unbelievable. And soooo cool! And unfortunately, $5 no matter where you look, unless you buy a lot of FT patterns on eBay. 
Don’t get me wrong, once you knit them once, it isn’t hard. But I don’t thinkI could have figured out clogs like that without a pattern if I had been knitting for 50 years.

Really, though, the Fiber Trends pattern is the best investment Ive ever made. The pattern is BRILLIANT and addictive! I own both the adults and the childrens patterns. Im a frugal individual, too, and I dont regret the purchase one bit! Itll keep you and your family and possibly several friends in comfy cozy slippers for LIFE!
I have found lots of knitted slippers free. Which are more like felted socks. But you can’t get the FT Clogs free. And I would have to say they are SOOOO much nicer than any of the free patterns I found.
And as for making it up yourself. It is one of those things that as your knitting them you are scratching your head wondering how the heck someone was able to come up with this. I know I would NEVER have been able to dream up this pattern.
I agree. If you were going to pay for ONE pattern in your entire life, this would be the one to pay for.
On that note, Bev Galeskas (from Fiber Trends) has a book out called Felted Knits, and there are several felted slipper patterns in there–not THE clog pattern, but some clogISH patterns— if you don’t want to spend 5 dollars on the pattern, you could spend 20 on the book, and try to adapt one of those. Maybe you’ll decide that you like one of those patterns better.
I’ll cast my vote with: Julie, Kelly, Vicki, Hildie and a lot of the other clog addicts!

I do some of my own designing and adapt or modify almost everything else I knit BUT: I couldn’t have dreamed this up in a million years. I’ve made five pair so far, I now understand how this pattern works, and MAY :?? do some modifications for extremely narrow feet, putting in a “racing stripe” down the front, etc. but I’m not straying too far from the original.
This pattern is a work of art!! WELL WORTH a $5 investment!!!

No,no…don’t be embarrassed! Free patterns are great, but some are worth the price. Oh and at least you get honesty here! LOL
I was just going to say the same thing! Even experienced knitters look at this pattern for the first time and say “Whaaaat?!” Then it all comes together and you marvel and the construction.

So has anyone here who has knit/felted them actually worn them? How do the soles wear, as in durability?
I wasn’t going to wear them because I thought they’d be too hot, to be honest. But one day I slipped them on and WOW! I wear them all the time, now. I don’t think my daughter really wanted them, anyway. 
I don’t know how they’ll wear, I’ve only worn them for a few days. They are cushy on the bottom, though, and my feet have yet to get hot.
I also discovered that they’re excellent for wiping up small spills! :rofling:
Ive been wearing mine for almost a year now & they are wearing GREAT! I suppose it would depend on what yarn you make them from, too…
:rofling: i have a pair that are a similar style that i bought years ago and you are right VERY good for that purpose! 
How difficult is the pattern, like on a scale of 1 to 10? Anything especially tricky for a very novice knitter?

If you can cast on, knit, and purl you can do this pattern, especially with all the help around here.
You do M1 ( make 1 ) increases, which are very well explained in the pattern. For decreases you do ssk and K2tog. There is also the three needle bind off which can be awkward the first time you do it, but isn’t really that difficult. You also knit in the round, but the pattern also has directions for NOT knitting in the round and instead doing a small (about 6 stitches) seam in the back.
The one other technique used is picking up stitches - not pick up and knit - just pick up, and it’s not that hard either.

I cant imagine anyone feeling like a novice clogger after reading through the KAL thread…EVERY POSSIBLE THING has been covered in there! :rofling:
Where can I buy the pattern for the clogs? My sister has me hunting for this and she thought the pattern was in the Fiber Trends book. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I live in one state and she lives in another so if I can find it I will send it to her.
