Is it possible to steek on acrylic?

Or will it unravel?

I don’t even know what a steek is. :frowning:

Acrylic can be more slippery, so it would pay to be extra careful, but I believe you can still steek.

In Knitting for Anarchists, Anna Zilboorg recommends whipstitching each individual stitch up the column to either side of the stitch column you will be cutting, instead of machine stitching. A stitch locked down like that couldn’t possibly unravel.

Involves scissors and CUTTING knitting, not for the squeamish.

Ingrid has an excellent thread on it somewhere with her demonstrations.

I did machine steeks on two Fair Isle sweaters that were made with Encore dk. They came out fine.
