Is it correct for left front of baby cardigan to have different length to right front

Pattern Baby Double Knitting UKHKA 12. Baby cardigan. Says work until work measures 20cm for left front, whereas says work until right front measures 18 cm for right front. This is before shape neck instructions. Is this right? I’m relatively new to knitting ! Thank you

Welcome to the forum!

Seems unusual as the fronts look like mirror images. Is there something different about the instructions following the length designation (either the 18 or 20cm)? If not match the two fronts and check that they will work to the same length as the back of the cardigan.
Have you already finished the back and one of the fronts?

Thank you for your reply. I have finished the back, 24cm. I have knitted right front and shaped neck. Matches up with back. With left front I put life line in,( just in case) then have knitted more to match up with right front . But just wanted to check before I carry on and shape neck.

Sounds like a good strategy. Matching up the right front to the back is an excellent measure. It sounds like you are on your way and using a favorite trick, the lifeline.
Have fun with it and let us know how the cardigan comes out. We love photos!

Hello
If you have double and triple checked that the lengths given in the pattern for the back and two fronts are all different, it sounds like an error in the pattern and i think UK hand knitting would be grateful of you bringing it to their attention so they can correct it for future knitters. I did find a page of corrections on their website and this pattern was not listed.
Here’s a contact page for them where you can tell them you think there is an error

It’s a cute little jacket.

Thank you. I’ll contact them tomorrow
