I have a pattern from Creative Knitting Winter 2013 called Guadalupe and it calls for sport yarn, which I have. The pattern uses 221 yds/50g skeins of 75% wool/25% silk. Now I have 170 yds/70 gr skeins of acrylic sport yarn and am wondering if I could use this instead. I was wondering if I would need to adjust needle sizes because of the difference in thickness of the yarns. I apologize in advance that I do not have a link to this pattern. No problem!
A lot of the time, I don’t use the recommended yarn or needles. Just try the yarn you want & the needles you want to test the gauge. If it’s close, you’re normally fine. But that will change the required amount of yarn, too.
