Can anyone help with where I might find a pattern that has a rugby ball on it (preferably vertically)
I’m trying to knit a Christmas jumper for my rugby max grandson, was thinking of a rugby ball to which I could add a smiley face and a Santa hat…. But I have searched everywhere I can think of to find a pattern with the basic rugby ball shape, with no luck
Im confident with intarsia knitting and have designed many Christmas jumpers over the years, based on their favourite things, I’ve even tried drawing one out on stitch fiddle, but I just can’t get the shape right- anyone else done anything with a rugby ball on or ideas where I might find just the basic shape as I can add all the other elements myself - thanks in anticipation

What sort of stitch count and row count were you thinking?
There are some charts but it would help to know rough size in stitches, i don’t know if your grandson is new born or grown adult.
American football looking charts are a bit easier to find, similar enough for shape?

Thank you for replying….. I should have mentioned his age, he’s only 8 - it’s for the back (I’ve already designed something for the front, (rugby playing snowman)’
The jumper (dk yarn) is 86 sts wide and probably about 120 rows but I don’t want it to fill the whole back so probably about half the size, just wanted to add something fun on the back as it’s a Christmas jumper
I didn’t think of looking at American footballs and I’ll take a look at your other suggestions too, thank you
