Okay, this is theoretical, but there’s something I want to knit that’s a pretty flat shape, but it does have some shaping to it. I am wanting to know how to retain that shaping but adding more sts per inch. It’s a baby bunting that has enclosed feet. It’s usually made with super bulky yarn, but I think thats too hot for south texas. So I want to decrease the bulkiness and add sts with smaller yarn.
You could knit a larger size (more stitches) with the yarn and needles you have, or start out with more stitches when you cast on. Look at the difference in stitches between sizes and add more in the same increment. If there’s 6 stitches, then add 6 or 12 more and adjust all stitch counts accordingly.

I would turn the instructions for spi and rpi into a schematic, then use your preferred spi and rpi to make a new set of instructions.

the easiest way to add more stitches per inch is to go down a needle size.
Yes, but I’m not sure you’d want to do that with bulky yarn. That’s too hot for Texas…
You translate the pattern into inches, then your inches into sts/rows per inch on the gauge you get with the needles and yarn. That should do it.

Ya, changing to smaller needles with super bulky yarn would be WAY too hot, but it’s a nice thought :teehee:
I will probably try changing it to inches and trying to calculate the difference in the decreases and whatnot and see how that goes. Thanks for the input!
