Help please! I am making a kids “T-Top” Sweater. I have done the stockinette stitch for the body of the sweater - 66 stitches each row. Now I am supposed to add on 28 stitches and knit across 94 - then row 2 add on 28 stitches and kit across making 122 stitches. How do you add stitches at the beginning of a row?? Thanks :??
Increasing stitches at end of row
You cast on more stitches.
Here is a video on how to cast on using the single loop method. I think this is the cast on that you use for adding stitches on.
Thanks for the answer Jenelle but please try again - the video button I clicked on doesn’t work.
I think it’s misleading when patterns tell you to cast on at the beginning of a row, unless you use another strand of yarn to do it. If you want to use your working yarn, I’d cast on the stitches at the end of the row, turn and work across, including the 28 you just cast on and then cast on 28 at the end of that row.
Or you can use a separate strand, cast on 28, knit across the center stitches and cast on 28 more with your working yarn.
You can use any one-strand cast on method. Click on the Basic Techniques tab to find the cast ons.
I figured it out - thanks for all your help!
