Increasing purlwise in pattern

HI - I am knitting a pattern which

Row 1: (WS)work 1 row of shadow rib over 8 stitches(k2 p1,k2), k2, cable work, k2, shadow rib over 8 stitches (k2 *p1,k2)
Row 2: (RS) purl 8 stitches, k2,cable work, k2, purl 8

This is the sleeve of a sweater. It calls for increasing 1 stitch on each side every 4th row - working all increases in shadow rib. I am assuming that means increasing 1 stitch on the RS (purl). How do I increase this and stay in pattern?

( I am increasing every 4th row 31x). The pattern is Banjo Cable Pullover in “Knitting the New Classics” by Kristin Nicholas.

Thank you very much for the help in advance,

GCP

You don’t have to keep the edge st in pattern, it’ll be hidden by the seam. So just inc purlwise as you normally would and on the next row work the new sts into the pattern.
