Increases in Pattern

Hello angels

I’ve just started knitting the Esther Vest by PetiteKnit and got a bit stuck at the armhole increases.

This is what the pattern says:

“Now work increases for the armholes, working the new sts in the established moss stitch pattern. Work as follows:
Row 1 (RS): K1, M1L, work in pattern to the last stitch on the needle, M1R, k1.
Row 2 (WS): Work in pattern to end of row.”

From what I understand, the moss stitch is worked over the first 2 and last 2 stitches of the row.

What I’m unsure about is where exactly to place the M1L and M1R in relation to the moss stitch:
Should I knit 1 stitch (as written), then make the increase, and continue?
Or should I first complete the 2 moss stitches at the edge, and only then make the increase instruction?

I’m currently on Row 27 (RS), where these increases begin. The moss stitch isn’t shown in the chart, which makes it a bit confusing).

I didn’t attach the full chart due to copyright, but I hope this makes sense :folded_hands:

Thank you so much!

You could do either but since the pattern places the increases one stitch in from the edge, that’s the best way to go. You can continue with the increases always one stitch in from the edge and keep the edge stitch in stockinette. Since there is a ribbing picked up at the armhole, this edge stitch will make it easier to see the edge for the pick up.
It’s a lovely, classic vest with enough texture to make it a standout. Thank you for thinking of the designer copyright in your post.
