Increase without hole

How do you do the make 1 right and left increases without having a small hole on the next row?? This is why I didn’t finish Sahara and now I am seeing it on Picovoli?

Here’s a page by Amy as to how to do different increases. I found it very helpful. http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/basic_techniques/increase.php

any other tips? I really want to finish this top this week but don’t want these little holes.

i’ve usually just used the m1 increase and never had a problem with holes. you have to make sure you knit through the stitch the correct way though.

if you look at the glossary (up at the top top of the page) the m1 increase i always use is under M1B. Its opposite is M1F.

The M1 increase isn’t just picking up yarn from between the stitches in the row below. You need to put a twist in it so it doesn’t leave holes. That may still leave some, so you could look at KLL/KRL - they’re as close to invisible as any increase I’ve seen.
