Increase in sticking stitch on same edge

Hi, am knitting some puppets for my neice and on the arms where it says to increase on the same side on each row (using stocking stitch) I’m looking at different ways to doing it but it doesn’t look very neat as it comes out either with holes where I’ve increased or very bubbly. As it starts off with only 3 stitches and increases to 15 it seems very fiddly. Will appreciate any ideas or links to videos.

It may be neater to increase one or two sts in from the edge. A knit front and back the original way works nicely for increases every row. You might also try a yarn over increase where you knit or purl into the back of the yarn over to twist the stitch and close up the hole.
