Increase either side of marker

Hi - my pattern tells me to increase either side of a marker.

Can anyone recommend which increase to use and also whether I should knit a normal stitch between the 2 increases?

The pattern is in st st and the increases are made on the right (knit) side every 2cm so ideally I’d like to see a nice v-shaped symmetrical pattern building up.

I have been doing the following and it just doesn’t look right:

M1L, K1, move marker, M1R

Should I just do 2 increases in the same stitch before and after the marker? i.e. M1L, move marker, M1R ?

Any advice gratefully appreciated!

yes, if it says each side of marker then do just that: increase slip marker, increase. with no extra knit in between.
As alternative increases you could also try a Kfb paired with a SSK.

Thanks Tarrentella, suspected I had some unraveling to do …

SSK is a decrease.
