Hi there,
fairly new knitter and hoping for someone to clarify a pattern instruction. Pattern says 'inc one st at each end in 5th and foll 6th rows until there are 44 sts…'
I am knitting in stocking stitch and 5th row is knit row, i already have 40 sts.
So does it mean i increase at each end on the 5th and 6th rows, or on the 5th and then the 7th (foll 6th)?
hope this makes sense, and hope someone can help.
thanks heaps.

You now have 40 sts.
When you get to that 5th row increase at each end. That will make 42.
Then start counting over. Work 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, rows and increase at each end of the 6th row. Now you’ll have 44.
