I have lost my notes for my colour work sweater and want to make a second one in the same size with a different colour pattern.
I don’t make particulalry good notes but I do make notes and they have disappeared.
Nothing in a note book, nothing on my tablet for this pattern.
I do not loose things, it makes no sense.
I don’t know how many rows i worked the body, or what row i placed the neck on, or any of the short row info for the neck. i did tricky-for-me neck with short row W&T instead of binding off or decreases, there is no way i did that without jotting down what to do. My tablet doesn’t even have the row gauge info - this makes no sense. I think my typed notes have been accidentally deleted.
I’m so frustrated with myself.
I will have to lay my sweater out and count the rows and stitches. Grrr… it’s put me right off.
I wish it had.
I’ve opened every notes file on my tablet. I only use notes app for patterns and don’t move them into a folder so it can’t be in another place. The notes file has stitch gauge, cast on number, sleeve info and even what ratio to seam the sleeve to the body, but no row gauge, body length, armhole or neck shaping or bind off row, they’ve just vanished.
It’s not impossible to count the rows on my finished sweater, I just don’t want to, and don’t want to guess the w&t rows on the neck, i think it will be half a guess even if i count rows and stitches.
Just so annoying.
Oh it’s kind of you to suggest, but no, just one device used.
I’m convinced i had it there so i think what happened is some accidental highlight of an entire chunk without me realising and it has deleted as i have typed another bit in or when i pasted a pic or a pattern link into the notes.
I have spent the entire day working out what I did with the row count, armhole shaping, neck shaping. I even cried a bit with the sheer frustration of it. Some of it I still don’t know for sure what i did so the next sweater will be a guess. I did a thing i really liked on the neck and now I’m just guessing what it might be.
I need to get over myself.
There are bigger things in the world!
There ARE bigger things in the world, but most of them we have little control over. These small (and large) setbacks seem so very personal. I’ve certainly cried over projects before now, and likely will again.
You figured out that neckline once, and at least you have SOME notes about it now, so you’re a step ahead…just not as far ahead as you had hoped.
Thank you. It’s nice to have a place where fellow knitters understand the frustrations.
My tablet is doing weird things too… maybe at the end of its life. I have a new one in waiting but stressed over transfering over with the thought of possible loss of notes and patterns.
Eek.
