I’ve just started a chunky cable sweater for my grandbaby using Cashmerino Aran yarn (so soft!!). Part of the instructions include a Tw2R and Tw2L. I seem to be doing OK on the left (going into the back of the 2nd stitch), but wind up with an extra stitch on the needle with the Tw2R.
Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong here?? I was hoping to spend some airplane time knitting tomorrow. Thanks very much.
Can you describe exactly what you are doing when you do the right twist?
Wow! That was fast – thank you KnitQueen! I’m knitting into the front of the 2nd stitch on the left needle and then coming around and knitting into the front of the 1st stitch. When the 1st stitch loop (2nd one just knitted) has been completed, I slip it to the right needle, as usual, and then slip the 2nd stitch (1st one just knitted) over to the right hand needle.
Is there a loop that should be getting dropped as I go? It seems to happen that way when I do the Tw2L, so that one appears to be going as it’s supposed to and I start and end with two stitches.
I hope you can picture what I’m doing from this description. The instructions are from a book of projects for children but, since I’m traveling right now, I xeroxed the pages I needed and don’t have access to anything instructional from the book.
Thanks so much for any help you can give me.
Knit into the front of the second stitch, then knit into the front of the first stitch ~ at this point you have made 2 loops on your right needle and both of the original stitches from the left needle can be dropped.
Thanks so much, Knitqueen. I’ll practice that and hope I’m on my way.
