Illusion knitting

Ii love this site! My mother taught me to knit when I was 9, now I’m 52 and decided to try it again. I actually got interested last year when I wanted to make a scarf out of Fun Fur. The videos on this site are so great, when I get myself in a mess I can usually figure it out by watching instead of reading in a book. My mother has macular degeneration, so she gave me all her her knitting stuff. I saw illusion knitting on Knitty Gritty and want to give it a try, does anyone know where I could find a pattern with either hearts or stars with instructions that are EASY to follow?

:XX:

I saw that today, too. I don’t know of any patterns offhand, but here’s a few links that might help. One of them says it’ll help you make your own.

Here’s the link to the Knitty Gritty show with the project. There is a heart in that scarf so maybe you could work from that.

I made up a pattern for an illusion star scarf for my sister. Pictures: 1 and 2.

You can email me if you’d like the pattern. I currently have it in a word.doc format that I can email.

Marlad…the original poster isn’t active and hasn’t posted in over 2 yrs. If you need something that you can’t find ask in the patterns forum.

I have just been so flat about finding something to knit, now this is something I can start up again with. is this pattern available,

Again…the OP isn’t active anymore. There are lots of them on Ravelry though.

Here’s a site that may help. There are several patterns already charted and good directions for charting your own.

Once you understand the mechanics of Illusion Knitting, you can chart your own. You just have to make the chart short since they elongate as you knit them.

Is there any way to make a illusion knitting names? I would like to try that as a practice for my cousin. Thanks in advance.

Welcome!
Yes, there are designs for letters. There’s a template here for letters that may help:

There are also a few tutorials online that may help you design your own alphabet.

Once you understand how to make illusion knitting charts, you can do whatever you like.
