Icord bind off in purl

Hi! My pattern calls for an icord bind off in purl. It states:
(RS): Cast on 2 sts using the knitted cast-on.

P2, P2tog. Slip 3 sts back to the left needle

Repeat - to last 3 sts.

Bind off the last 3 sts and weave in the end nicely.

All the videos I’ve seen start by casting on 3 stitches instead of 2. The videos I’ve seen where only 2 are cast on, they purl 1 and then purl 2 together. Does it matter?

What is the name of your pattern and designer?

After the cast on you’ll effectively be working with 3sts. You could work the cast on with more sts but perhaps starting with 2sts gives you a neater end?
