I have a spinning wheel I designed and built. It uses construction lumber and 3d printings. Someone with level 1 wood working can craft it, which is why I designed and built it. It would cost about $120.00 to craft one with fresh lumber and plastic. If doing production it would take about $60.00 in materials.
I want to offer it to the community, so people can build themself a spinning wheel.
It was derived from the craftsman spinning wheel blueprints available free on the internet. It has the drive wheel diamenter, and whorl from it. Most of it is different however. It does retain part of the frame.
A 15.35" drive wheel, 8cm whorl. I did make a 5cm, 6cm, 7cm, 8cm, 9cm, 10cm, 12cm whorl for it.
It runs in scotch tension, but if one can figure out how to fix the drive band problem, it can run double drive.
Double drive is doable on it, I spun a skein of yarn with it, but with problems.
It can also be setup with double flyer, and optional distaff on it. Which would be needed for double flyer. I tested the double flyer out, but my distaff didn’t work very well for me, and my predrafted wool had many slumps. It’s also hard to treadle with two flyers. Both flyers where setup in scotch tension.
It runs best with petroluem jelly. Does not work well with mineral oil.
