I need Infor on Yarn Weight

I have several balls of baby yarn that I have had for ages and would like to make a layett set out of it. The problem is that I don’t know the weight of it (Fingering Weight or DP ). My Question is …

How can I tell the weight of this thread and then know the proper needle size before I start a pattern?

This is a chart of wraps per inch and approximate gauges of certain yarns.

Thank you so much Kristen

That was exactly what I was looking for. Im trying to gather up all of my stash yarn, find a pattern that I want to make and put the yarn with the pattern into a plastic zip lock bag so that I can begin to knit on them through out the year as stash buster projects.

I have only limited storage for yarn and now that I am knitting clothing for myself. I just don’t want to use just pure acrylics on everything.

Using up all of this baby yarn that I have stashed away rolled and without lables, (( I just didnt know any better… everyone here buys yarn and balls it up, tosses the lables and stashes it away for a rainy day, never worry ing about the weight, much less use a pattern )) will not only give me some much needed knitting practice, but will allow me to make some beautiful gifts for baby showers, ect… I personally would
much rather have a handmade gift then a store bought one anytime…=)

Thank you for the information… its working perfectly
