Like Foxyie said, start on the largest whorl. The smaller the whorl, the more twist you’ll get.
Treadle slowly and make sure your yarn is getting wound onto the bobbin quickly enough so you’ll have yarn instead of string. The longer the staple of the fiber, the less twist you need.
You should only be treadling so that the wheel barely turns. It’s a common learning curve for beginning spinners. Practice treadling without fiber so that the wheel will ‘falter’ right before you push the treadle.
What wheel do you have again? Do you know the ratios??
