I Have A Question About Ribbing

I have a pattern that says I’m to cast on 70 stitches, then do a k4p4 pattern for 25 rows.

My question is, what do I do with the extra 2 stitches in each row?

I tried just knitting them in garter stitch, pearling them, and alternating pearling and knitting. Each gave me something that definitely did not look like a rib pattern.

Also, does it matter which cast-on method I use?

I’m using the cable cast on.

Here is a link to the pattern:

Any help would be great!

You can start the rows with a k5 (then p4, k4, p4, etc) and end with a p5 instead. The 2 extra sts will be in the seam and there will be a k4 and a p4 next to each other when you seam up. If you want to knit in the round, only cast on 64 sts and k4, p4 around.

Ok, I’ll try it.

Thanks!
