I’m one of those people that consider a pair of booties or a pair of mittens 2 projects. It’s cheating I know, but darn it, I finished a bootie! I wasn’t planning on making the other one just now. I made this one because I couldn’t sleep at all last night and needed something quick and small to work on. I wanted to test the new yarn I got and see how it knit up (Berroco Suede). I don’t think I like the feel of the yarn as it’s not as soft or suede feeling as I’d hoped. I did buy some Lion’s Brand suede, but it’s thicker and I’ll need to play with the gauge if I want to use it with this pattern. BUT if the Lion’s Brand stuff knits up better, I’m using that one over this. The price difference alone makes it worth it.
Oh yes, and this was my first time knitting into the back of a yarn forward from a previous row (thanks for the help The.Knitter), as well as my first mattress stitch seam. I’m so proud of how the seam came out, you can’t even see it.
Any way, on to the pictures :
and for kicks, here’s a picture of the baby the booties will be for :
OMG, you finished something! Didn’t I tell you how darned good it would feel? You should be so proud!! Now, go and change your signature so that your FO says Baby Bootie. I am very proud of you. I KNEW you could do it if you put your mind to it. Congrats. It looks fantastic. (Nice bump too, see my DH told you it was twins last weekend when we were at your house!!) Better make two sets of booties. It’s such a cute little bootie too! And you did a wonderful job of knitting it! Good job my friend.
Thank you everyone for the kind replies! I offered to make pairs of these for the pregnant ladies I know (after the holidays of course) and they all said they couldn’t believe I didn’t want to charge them. I wanted to make them as gifts hehe. They all said I should sell them, but I don’t think I can, seeing as how it’s not my pattern and copyright laws and all. But yes, I will most definitely let everyone know how the other yarn works out.
The white I used was Paton’s Be Mine, as the LYS didn’t carry any Berroco Plush. Also, I used the same color for the sole that I did for the rest of the bootie. As soon as I find out what I’m having, I’m going back to get gender appropriate colors.
Those are NICE! I’m sure Baby Bump will appreciate them
When mine was at the feet in my liver stage, I figured his bootie size by holding them up against the outside lump his foot left when he tried to stretch his legs. He’s going to be 18 on the first:noway:
