I-Cord Cast-on? :oS

I decided to caston for the Touch of Whimsy Scarf, but don’t know how to do an i-cord cast on. I know how to do the i-cord but don’t get the rest. What does “kfb” mean???

[INDENT]ICord cast on: cast on 3 sts. Slip these sts back onto the left hand needle.
Row 1: kfb of the 1st st. creating another st, k2.
Slip the last 3 sts from the right hand needle to the left needle
Row 2: kfb of the 1st st creating another st., k2. Then slip the last 3 sts from the
right needle to the left needle.
Repeat these steps until you have all of the sts needed for your cast PLUS 2
more sts. THEN slip the last 3 sts from the right hand needle to the left hand
needle, k2tog, k1. Slip last 2 sts from right hand needle to the left hand needle,

KFB is knit in the front and the back of one stitch for an increase. It’s show how in the Increase video called bar increase. For the rest, just follow step by step.

 :grrr: :!!!: :wall: :hair: :frog: I am trying to do the same pattern and I can’t do it for nothing. I don’t know why but it just doesn’t come out right. Does anyone have any ideas or helpful hints???

Have you looked at the How to make I cord video at the bottom of this page - http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/knitting-tips

Yes I can make an I cord but for some reason I just can’t get the hang of this cast on. Does anyone know if there is a video out there of this??? I have a hard time with the kfb and that is my main problem.

Have you seen the instructions on the following website: http://whimsicalknittingdesigns.blogspot.com/2006/10/i-cord-cast-on.html
There is a video specifically showing step by step — maybe it will help clarify the cast on.

Yes but I still can’t get it. I don’t know why I need to see someone actually doing the I cord and not just the kfb stitch.

Is it *icord (3 stitches) then kbf, *?

There’s a video here on KH on doing the icord, it’s here. It’s at the bottom of the page. Hope that helps.

Here’s a tutorial with photos regarding i cord cast on.

Woohooooooooooooo I did it. :cheering: :woohoo:
I changed needles and I gave it one more try with the kfb. This time I used my bamboo needles and I did it!!!
