I cord cast on in middle of row

I have to cast on by I cord in middle of row. I know how to do regular I cord cast on but can’t figure out how to do it with stitches already on the right needle.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!
Are you casting on new stitches or are you going to incorporate the edging into the sts already on the needle?
What is the name of your pattern?

Thank you for replying. The pattern is Summer Cotton Henley from Knit ‘N Style June 2009. It has an icord Henley neckline. To make one side of Henley neckline I used I cord bind off at the beginning of the row. Then for the other side I have to use I cord cast on for the matching number of stitches. The cast on just looks a mess - the row of stitches looks about three times longer than a regular row.

I wonder if you could get around this by using a provisional cast on then going back and working the I-cord bind off on the sts.

That’s a good idea. I hadn’t thought of that. After lots of messing around I made a stand alone I cord and then picked up stitches from top of the cord. There is a gap where the bind off and I cord meet. I figure I can just sew that together. Thank you
