Hi, I’m trying desperately hard to work out this pattern for arran cardigan. I am managing the RS but I think the WS looks wrong
Please can someone help me?
I have ripped this down so many times
I have tried to add picture but won’t let me.
Welcome to KH!
The swatch looks great. What is the name of your pattern and designer?
For these patterned sweaters, the stitches on the WS are usually worked as they appear, knit the Vs and purl the bumps.
Do you not want the small section of purls next to the cables? Would purling those sts on the WS and knitting them on the RS instead give you the look that you want?
It’s Patons C 4066
It’s an old pattern one of my Mums, I think I will do another pattern and see what I Think. Thank you so much for your reply and advice I really appreciate it
Testing these patterns out on a swatch is always a good idea. Good luck in your search!
Your swatch looks nice.
It’s ok to post a few lines of the pattern if you need help working out what to do.
I agree trying different patterns is a good idea. I sometimes think a stitch pattern looks nice in the picture but when i knit it i don’t like it so i change to something else. I had one where i liked the stitch on the wrong side more than the right side so switched it around.
It’s very common for cable patterns to have reverse stockinette between elements of the design, to contrast with the cables which are usually in stockinette. They also help the cable pop forward more. I think it looks fine, but if you don’t care for it, as you say you can try another Aran pattern.
