how to transfer 3x1 to 1x1 tubular bind off

Hi I need a little advice!
I am knitting a sweater that has a pattern of repetition of k3 tbl, p1
When binding off the body sts, the pattern recommends that if you want to use the tubular bind off method, transfer the 3x1 to 1x1 to make the bind off easier.

I know how to do 1x1 tubular bind off, but Im not sure what it means by ‘transfer the 3x1 to 1x1’. Would this mean just use the 1x1 bind off regardless of types of stitches?

or can you recommend any good alternative binding off method for this kind of pattern?

I really like the tubular bind off and I’m willing to go through the extra steps to convert 2x2 or 3x1 to 1x1 in order to use it.
Basically, you reorder the sts to make the 3x1 into 1x1. The first 2sts of the k3 are exchanged and k1p1. The next 2sts are k1p1 so just work them as that. Then repeat these two steps.
Here’s an explanation for 2x2 ribbing but the same technique works for 3x1.

I have a 3k x 1p ribbing at the hem. I would like to work the Italian BO, so have read these notes and others regarding reordering the sts to make it into 1 x 1. Not sure how to reorder the middle K of the 3. Or maybe, just treat it as a purl?

Thank you!

It seems that yes, treat that middle stitch of the k3 as a purl. You could play around with this on a swatch to see how it looks. I sometimes just change the pattern itself to 1x1 rib then use the Italian bind off.

I monkeyed around with my growing swatch and decided that it would be just as well to switch to 1x1 rib as I wanted to go down 2 needle sizes anyway on the last row. Looks pretty good! Thanks for your encouragement!
