How to seam double moss stitch

Hello all,

Thank goodness I found you! I have knitted a cable sweater and the edges of all pieces is worked in double moss stitch. Could anyone tell me how to join the seams? If I lay one edge against the other and just back stitch them it will make a really bulky seam. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome!
Mattress stitch is going to give you a pretty looking seam near the edges of the two pieces but it will still give you some material in the seam. I’ve used it for bulky yarn however, and it works quite well. Here’s a video for mattress stitch on seed stitch which is close to double moss. See if the seam produced works for you.

That looks perfect. I will give it a try thanks you so much for taking the time to respond.

We’re very good about responding and it’s usually pretty quickly. Welcome to Knitting Help!! :yay:

You might try using embroidery floss (in a matching color, of course) to sew your seams. I usually use two strands, which works really well.
