How to read and work this pattern

Row 3 of my pattern starts with 6 stitches on needle.
Pattern reads: Sl 1, (k1,yo, k1) in next stitch, k1, (k1, yo, k1) in next stitch, k2. Should now have 10 stitches in needle. I end up with 9. Please help explain if you can. Thank you.

Welcome to KnittingHelp!
The row starts with 6sts and the directions (k1,yo,k1) increases 2sts for a total of 10sts.
The k1,yo,k1 are all done into one stitch, like this:

(just pay attention to the first 20 secs of the video for the single k1,yo,k1)

Your reply is so appreciated. I watched your video and now it makes perfect sense. I was able to do it and now understand how pattern is written. I’m on my way!
