How to "mk1"?

So I’m making these wrist warmers, which I would post links to, but this is my first ever post here, and I really wanted to ask before I have to go to class in 10 minutes, so I don’t have time to make two posts, so I can start post links. (Yay for horrible run on sentences) But they’re called “Linda K’s Yummy Mummy wristwarmers” and the pattern is free on ravelry.

The part I’m confused about is the thumb increase. It says to:
“Work 11 sts twisted rib, mk1, k1, mk1, k1, mk1. Work to end of round.”

I think I know how to do everything but “mk1,” and unfortunately google has failed me here. Any ideas?

It’s usually M1, meaning make 1, an increase usually done by lifting the yarn between stitches and ktbl, or you can use a backward loop. Look on the Increases page.
