I know this has been on here before, but, for some reason, I can’t remember where to measure the length of the armholes on my vest. Do I measure from the shoulder to the start of the armhole, or, do I measure the curve itself? What is the correct way? I have a schematic of the vest, and, from what I see, it looks like you measure from the shoulder, but, then when I do this, my armhole looks like it’s too short. Could someone straighten me out, please?

The armhole depth is the straight vertical distance from the shoulder down to the beginning of the armhole. You can calculate the number of rows of body to knit to achieve a certain armhole depth if you know your row gauge (number of rows per inch).
The armhole circumference would be measured all along the edge of the opening in the body where the sleeve will be attached, like the circumference of a circle.
The trouble is, patterns usually say simply “armhole”; it is usually taken to mean the armhole depth.
Thanks, that’s what I thought, but, it can be confusing. I guess I thought about it too much.
