finished a simple stockinette hat for grandson but it curled up so much it’s like a beanie. Can I somehow add on around the edge where I cast on in order to make it longer? help please don’t want to toss it. thanks, solargirl
You can pick up stitches along the bottom edge and add a border. I think I would add ribbing or garter stitch but I guess you could add more stockinette.
I know what you mean about the curling. It uses up way more length than you might expect.
If you knit the first inch or so with smaller needles, then switch to larger ones, it only rolls up to the point you switched needles.
If you’re not opposed to crochet, you could also try crocheting a border around the edge of the hat to get it to lay flat.
