How to knit Tina Barrett Cabling pattern - error on pg 72

Hi! I’m trying to make Tina Barrett’s cable coasters and the pattern says only to work eight rows of the cabling pattern from the placemat then knit 2 rows and FO but that wouldn’t be square. Knitting 8 x the 8 rows seems to big though.
Has anyone made these and if so how many times did you repeat the 8 rows to make the coaster?
Thanks! Eliza

Welcome to KH!
You’ll have to knit more than the 8 rows. The pattern has a gauge of 22sts x 48 rows for a 4" square. You’ll need about 48 rows for 4-4.5" depending on how close you are to the given gauge.

Thanks. At 48 rows that’s 6 x the 8 rows but then there are 4 rows for the edges so maybe like the placemat you need to stop at a row 4 then knit the final two rows to give 48 rows total. I’ll just keep measuring until it’s nearly square and then finish an even row and add the final two knit rows in.
Thanks. I wondered if I’d got an old version and the book’s been updated…
