I was wondering, how does one guage their skill level at knitting? :knitting:
Not sure if this is what you’re looking for:
Beginner: Projects for first-time knitters using basic knit and purl stitches. Minimal shaping.
Easy: Projects using basic stitches, repetitive stitch patterns, simple color changes, and simple shaping and finishing.
Intermediate: Projects with a variety of stitches, such as basic cables and lace, simple intarsia, double-pointed needles and knitting in the round needle techniques, mid-level shaping and finishing.
Experienced: Projects using advanced techniques and stitches, such as short rows, fair isle, more intricate intarsia, cables, lace patterns, and numerous color changes.

Well I didn`t want to have to go from saying I am a beginner to I am easy…:roflhard:
But if that is what it is then that is what it is!! LOL!!
Easy? I’ve never heard of that as a level description, but I imagine there are some ‘easy’ knitters. :roflhard:
I don’t know how you gauge your level and I don’t know that it matters. Once you are comfortable with knitting keep at it and push yourself to learn new things. ![]()

OMG OMG, you’re killing me over here… ![]()
I should clarify~~ Those descriptions are used to describe patterns:
Standards and Guidelines for Crochet and Knitting | Welcome to the Craft Yarn Council
You guys are having too much fun over here.
On second thought, it finally explains how The Yarn Harlot came up with that name…
:chair:
Well I am sure my hubby will have a comment or two when i tell him that I am officially Easy…So who is this Harlet? I think I should learn more!!
But I am confused if I got easy this fast what does that make all of you???:roflhard:
ps thanks for the other clarification though!
WHAT?! Oh I’m sure you’ve heard of her! She’s written many books, my favorite is Knitting Rules!, but all of them have been good. Here’s her website if you truly don’t know who she is. She’s hilarious!
http://www.yarnharlot.ca/blog/
She is a best-selling author of knitting books and does lectures too. There is a recent thread about her at KH: http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91519
She has nick-named herself, “The Yarn Harlot.” Everyone loves her. I have four of her books.
Some of her best sellers have been At Knit’s End, Knitting Rules!, and Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off. She has a blog: www.yarnharlot.com Stephanie Pearl-McPhee is her real name.
Anyway, about those pattern descriptions, I think they could also describe what level of expertise you’re at as long as you put the word “level” after it.

Glad to hear that. As for me, I am ready for either a cold shower or a stiff drink. Maybe both.
:passedout:
Just kidding. Anyway, last time I was at the library I noticed they had a few of her books.
