How to get kinks/bends out of my circulars?

Most of my circulars are older ones - aluminum tips and plastic/nylon cables that are hand me downs from various family members. A lot of these types are not round anymore - they look all bent up and go every which way these days. Is there anything I can do to get them to look more round again? I wouldn’t bother if it was just that they look funny, its more that when I try to use them it is hard to keep the tips pointed in the right direction and makes it difficult to not drop stitches at times. Any help is appreciated!

Have you tried soaking them in really hot water? That helps with curly new ones.

PM Angelia (or wait a couple of minutes–I swear she’ll respond to this as soon as she sees it (if she hasn’t already by the time I finish composing my reply!! :rofling: ) and ask her–it’s not exactly the same situtation but she sent me directions last night over PM on how to get the kinks outta mine (mine are new and have been in the package forever–I’m scared to try them! lOL!) when we were discussing the booga bag. HTHs!

Nope, that didn’t work. :frowning: Same kinks/bends are still there no matter what I did. I let them soak in very hot water and as soon as I took them out the nylon part was cool. Any other suggestions? If I have to knit this entire sweater with this circ I may scream LOL.

Maybe heating it up with a hair dryer?

When I took my class w/Cat Bordhi, she suggested sitting on them. Your body heat will heat them up and straighten them out in about 15 minutes or so.

pat.

Just sit very carefully on the thinner ones. :rofling:

I agree with Ingrid…ouch!
