How to follow the pattern

This is the pattern that is giving me a headache

Row 1: Purl
Row 2: K1, *sl 1 pw, K2, psso2, rep from * to last st, K1

Rep rows 1 and 2 for pattern

I am capable of doing row 1 and 2 but I can’t repeat it because after row 2 I have less stitches than I started with and I don’t know how to purl it back to the right amount.

The pattern call for 186 st but I have been practising with 11. So after doing row 2 for the first time I am left with 8 st instead of 11. How do I purl it back to 11?

That does make a decrease in sts unless there’s a YO or other in there somewhere. Do you have a link to the pattern?

Its for an afghan. Here are most of the instructions

CO 186
Row 1 (WS): Knit
Row 2 and 3: Purl

Work rows 1 and 2 patt st 3 more times

Pattern
Row 1 (WS): Purl
Row 2 (RS): K1, *sl 1 pw, psso2; rep from * to last st, K1

The pattern calls for 8 different colours repeat throught out the afghan. It says to use size 8 29 inch circular needles

So I’m at lost! Hope this helps you help me!

This time when you wrote it out, you forgot the knit 2 between the sl 1, and psso2. But that is going to decrease the number of stitches if there’s no increases in the rows after that. Is it triangular and starts at the long edge, decreasing down to 4 sts or so?

No its a rectangular shape

Is there a picture of it somewhere? I’m stumped too.

It does look like a honeycomb sort of pattern, which the psso the k2 would do.
