Hi everyone…The good news is I finished my first sock…the bad news is it took sooo long that I forgot what pat I used…I kinda fluffed around with a few at the beg, then used Silver’s…here’s the question: Is there a way to “count” your co sts after your project is done??? The cuff /ribbing on the top looks to me like a 1x1 rib, when I count them it looks like 40 sts…but it’s just not working out to be a big enough opening…OMG how will I ever make a matching one???
Don’t count the cast on, try the sts on the first round. Or count the purl st ribs and multiply by 2, just be sure to mark where you start.
Thank you…Just count the purls? Not the V’s??? The purls look like 2 but the v’s look like just one:?? Yikes…
Well if it’s 1x1 you can count either one and double the number; sometimes it’s easier to count the purls because they ‘sink’ under the knits. Or you can count all of them.
Thanks Sue, you’re right…I pulled out the “sample sock” I completed (North Country Cotton Baby Sock)and that one is 2x2…counted the bumps x 2 and it came out exact…so the adult one I finished was 1x1…counted each st and got my number:hug:
