How to do a Yarn Over at beginning of row

Hello

I am a Newbie and I do thank you for this website.

I have knitted since I was a young girl but this is
the first time I have seen a pattern request that
you do a Yarn Over at the beginning of the row?

Does anyone know how to do this?

I thank you

Sandy (Sunflowers)

I don’t know if I can explain this well enough…when you get ready to start your row you just need to lay the yarn on top of your rigt hand needle, then knit the first stitch off the left one. The problem comes when you work back on the next row. You need to make sure you don’t drop that yo. I hope that helps but maybe someone else can explain it better. good luck!

To the previous post, I would add (hoping to make it even more clear) hold your yarn in front as if you were going to purl. That will force you to take the yarn over the needle to knit the first stitch.

has video’s for the 3 different YO’s.

I am still working on a shawl that has a yo at the beginning of every row. What I do is, I put my needle in just like I’m going to knit that first stitch, then just grab the yarn and wrap it around the top of the needle then finish the knit stitch. Hope I’m making sense.
