How to convert a flat knitted item to circular?

I’ve heard different ones mention knitting a pattern in the round with circulars or dpn’s, that was actually written to be knitted flat with straight needles.

I would love to knit this Baby Cable Cap pattern in the round. Would someone mind explaining to me, in very easy to understand terms :blush: , how to do that? :smiley:

I don’t believe you can do it with that particular cap. The direction of the stitches is perpendicular to the brim.
