I’m making a hot water bottle cover and decided to add a little colorwork to it. I’ve only ever knit fair isle patterns all around the pattern. This pattern I’d like to be blank (just my mian color in the back) and the colorwork (two colors) in the front.
Do I have to float my yarn all around the back during the whole project or is there a way to keep it all on the front? Is this not possible while working in the round?
I hope this isn’t too confusing!
Thank you in advance for any help!

The simplest way to do this is to work the front and back separately and seam the two together. Otherwise the choices for knitting in the round are to put color work on the back or to carry the floats around the back or to work short rows as you would for intarsia. This last technique might work depending on how many colors you have for the stranded work.
There are a couple of ways to work the intarsia technique which is what you would use for stranded knitting too.
