So I’m a tad vain. I have my college graduation on Saturday, and I have no idea how to wear my hair.
I have naturally curly hair that, I’ve been told, is pretty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It’s thick and unruly.
When I straighten it, I liken to teasingly call it Jennifer Anniston hair. Don’t I wish…
Anyhow, it always looks nice straight.
So, should I bother? I thought I could make a hair appt and let someone pamper me the day before and straighten it for me. It takes me over an hour to do on my own because it’s so thick.
Or, should I go au natural (with clothes, of course…:teehee:).
This is your day. Wear your hair however you feel most comfortable. Jennifer Aniston is gorgeous, in her own way, but obviously not everyone thought that - ahem - Brad.
Just be yourself, always. Never mind the ‘trends’ as they come and go but whatever you are will always be.
I said the Anniston thing is great jest…the first time I ever had my hair straightened (we’re talking Chi straighteners here), I couldn’t believe that my hair could get that straight. It was so pretty! Unlike what my hair usually looks like…kind of messy and free. Let’s just say that I fit in quite well with the 80’s look – big hair.
Just my two cents, if you want to pamper yourself go for a manicure/pedicure and a new pair of shoes to show off the pedicure…I have no idea what you look like, but what I do know is that every time I try to “do” my hair for something special it looks great in the mirror and then I see the pictures and think - what was I thinking?
I agree with the manicure & pedicure thing. Also, if it’s humid that day, will your straight hair go curly anyway? Perhaps what you need is a different hair style that’ll accent your lovely curls.
(Or just send your wonderful curls to me & I’ll be more than happy to let you have my straight lifeless hair.)
Whatever you do - congratulations!!! We’re all very proud of you.
I vote for letting your hair be. Go pamper yourself with the manicure and pedicure.
It’s funny how we of the straight hair would love to have all those curls while those with the curls envy our straight hair.
I say go for it! And if you can get a mani/pedi do that too, you worked hard for this and you should pamper yourself (and maybe buy your self some more yarn too!).
My hair is the same and I always feel pampered when I get it straightened, which doesnt happen to often. John Freida has some new products out that help with the humidy factor and the frizz. I live in NYC so I know humidity and they seem to work. Congratulations and most of all enjoy your day. You worked hard for it.
The yarn shopping is a definite . There’s a yarn store right on the way, so I will force my family to endure a visit there.
I tried on my cap this morning…after I got ready for work. I didn’t realize how high up on your head those things sit. I’m leaning very hard towards getting the hair straightened. Too much of it will be showing, and I don’t think a ponytail is gonna suffice.
Mother’s always say “you look beautiful just the way you are” and that is the way we really feel, but there will be lots and lots of pictures that day so do whatever makes you feel the best and the prettiest.
I say straighten the hair. I have curly hair as well. I couldn’t get the cap to stay on with it curly. Plus dang it you worked on to get there so pamper yourself.
Thanks all! Yesterday, I made an appointment to get it cut and straightened. Now I’ll have to sleep on my back so I don’t mess it up too badly. Thank goodness I have a Chi so I can touch it up the next morning.
I’ll post a picture (from the back, cause anonymity is part of my mystique :teehee:).
There was going to be no way that the cap was going to sit on my head nicely with my thick hair…it would have kind of floated…much like Ms. America’s crown. :teehee:
