I’m still knitting my large circular sweater, my new question is about weaving in the ends, when changing yarn balls I’ve been carrying both strands along the back for 7 stitches, do you reckon I need to go around and weave them in more or will that make it too obvious where the joins are?? the sweater is for me so will be washed really carefully and all that
any ideas??

You shouldn’t need to do that much, maybe leave the tails about 3" long.
don’t i trim off the tails after weaving in, at the very end i mean?? Don’t really want to see all the joins once whole thing is finished, cos of design you’ll be able to see some of the inside on the colllar
If you cut ends really short next to the fabric, when the fabric stretches a bit here and there the ends wil get pulled back through.
Are you working with acrylic? That’s more slippery and might need a bit more weaving in whereas wool is hairy and sticks to itself more and more with time. Basically if you want peace of mind I would suggest a sewing needle and cotton to stitch the ends to the inside of the fabric.
But 7 stitches should be okay unless you are using really slippery wool, but weaving them in a bit more won’t hurt either and won’t show up normally.
the wool is 30% alpaca and 70% acrylic and seems to be quite slippery and have a fair amount of stretch, also the garment is pretty heavy, might play it by ear a bit and try it on before i cut anything!

I actually misread the OP. I thought she said 7 inches not 7 stitches. And I just tie knots in my stuff anyway…
the pattern is called the pinwheel sweater and I found it on a site called elann.com, of course being in Aus I am using different yarns and needles to the ones specified and I’m doing it in a lovely shade of dusty pink, i decided also to change the edging, originally I thought I’d do a ruffle but I realised I was going to end up with about 1200 stitches on 2 80 cm circular needles and changed my mind! Instead I did a picot edging and I’m going to make a few roses to put on a pin to secure it, when I’m all done I might even post a piccy! It’s my first adult garment, I’ve been knitting for a couple of years but the largest thing I’ve made was for a 5 year old! I’v been finding this forum so useful, there always seems to be people around and it’s been heaps of help.
