How Fast is Fast?

Now, before I start hearing how “knitting is all about the experience of knitting”… and “it’s the end result that matters”… :rollseyes:

I was just wondering how fast a fast knitter knits… I realize that the type of yarn, and the pattern, and the needle, etc have a lot to do with speed, but is there a general guide-line that defines a “fast”, “intermediate”, or “slow” knitter???

((I read that someone online “claims” to be able to knit 9 stitches per second… I find that hard to believe, unless they are using a machine)) :shock:

I’ve never timed myself. So much depends on my mood, what I’m knitting, what else is going on… . . .

I thought I remembered a discussion of speed when I first joined the forums…here it is!
