How does an increase work with a no stitch

I have a pattern which calls for a chart which I have attached. I have just done an increase row from 70 -84 stitches. The instructions say work the chart (this same chart will be repeated across the rows) When the chart is finished, the instructions say now work increase row-you will have 126 stitches and increase to 144 stitches. I don’t understand how the increase works in the “chart” to go from 84 to 126 stitches. There are No Stitch symbols where the x’s are and increase stitches where the v’s are. I don’t know if this is clear and i also don’t know how the pattern will line up. Thank you in advance for your help

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
In row 1 of the chart you have 4sts per repeat. That means that over 84sts there are 21 repeats of the chart. The chart shows 2 increases (rows 2 and 4) so that’s 21repeats x 2sts = 42sts. .

That’s the increase from 84 to 126sts (84 + 42 = 126sts).

With the increases in rows 2 and 4 the chart is showing 2 grey sts on each side of the tan stitch including the increase in row 4.
I’m not sure if that answers your question. These “no stitch” boxes are only there to keep the chart square. They don’t represent the actual stitches on the needles.
