I’m a very new knitter and crocheter and am working a purse that involves both. I finished the bottom of the bag–its a crocheted round with 116 scs in the last rnd. Now I’m supposed to “use circular needles and MC to knit into front and back of each sc around bag bottom - 232 st. Join, marking for beg of rnd and carry marker up. Work even in k2, p2 ribbing for 8 in.” I can’t figure out how to knit the round onto my needles, or what exactly I’m supposed to join. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
You will actually be knitting into the front and back of the knit stitch even though you are picking up the crochet. Check the glossary linked above and you can see the instructions and video for KFB.
Wouldn’t it be to knit (pick up) into the front and back of each crochet stitch though? The top of a sc is like a chain stitch with a front and back loop. Seems to me it means to pick up a stitch from each loop of the sc. Seems like it would be easier to do. Then when all 232 sts are picked up, instead of turning the piece, start the ribbing by knitting into the first stitch you picked up and you’ll continue to knit in the round.
