How do I just 'skip' stitches?

I’m knitting Lion Brand Jamie Party Girl Dress. The Bodice is worked. Now ready to stop rounds and start rows. This next part confuses me when it says skip next 23 sts.

Divide for Front and Back
Next Row: Skip next 23 sts. Rejoin yarn and bind off 6 std for armhole, knit until there are xx sts on right needle, sl these sts to a stitch holder for front, bind off 6 sts, k xx for back.

I know what to end up with and understand binding off for armholes plus placing stitches on a holder.

But what do I do with those first 23 stitches on my left needle to get to those first 6 sts to bind off? Can they be placed on st holder to begin with?

Thank you for your help! I’m stumped!

I would slip those stitches onto your needle, then bind off the 6, etc. It’s hard to tell with what section you wrote, but it’s seems likely that those first “slipped” stitches are the first ones you’re going to work back and forth.

Thank you so much! Once I gave it more thought, I realized all I have to do is move or slip them to the right needle and proceed. Guess I was getting tired and had brain freeze. Again, thanks!
