Hi,
I’m working on a scarf that will have many stripes of multiple contrasting colors. I used the Double Knit Join-in for the first color join but there is a pesky row of the lighter colored yarn spliced into the dark color on the wrong side:

Does anyone know of a way to join different colors that will keep each stripe looking clean in it’s own color?
That’s the nature of garter stitch. When you join a new color always do it on the same side which will then be the RS (right side) of your work. As the back of the piece I actually think the stripe looks OK, if it shows sometimes it’s neat, tidy, and IMO not unattractive.
Yep, you will have a front and back if you change colors on just one side. The side you change on will become the front. You can avoid this by changing on both sides of the work alternately. Then those pesky bumps of different colors become part of the design.
Great idea! I like that. I think I’ll use it next time I’m doing garter stitch. :yay:
Count me in! :cheering: :cheering: :cheering: I like this idea a lot, also. Knitting is awesome, it is so amazingly versatile!
Oh, and BTW, Christina, your stitches look so neat and evenly tensioned, well done!
