How do I get companies or people to donate yarn to my club?

Hello everyone,

My name is Karla Medrano and I am a junior in high school, these last few weeks I started a yarn club at my school. I am teaching the people in my club how to knit and later on, we are going to learn how to crochet, but my teacher and I are looking for yarn donations or which companies donate yarn. We are trying to make beanies for babies, blankets for the homeless, and many more things, but the thing is we do not have much yarn and we want to start making bigger projects by Thanksgiving break. Our club is virtual due to the pandemic, but whenever we have our club everybody is very cheerful and excited to knit! We are located in California, if you can donate yarn to our club that would be greatly appreciated or if you know any businesses that donate yarn please let me know! Thank you for your time

You can ask on places like Next Door or Craig’s List in the free section. Or you can check places like Salvation Army or Goodwill. I don’t know of companies that donate yarn on a regular basis.

Where are you in CA?

You might also try some of the large yarn companies. They sometimes donate yarn to charities on a one time or even continuing basis. Berroco, Bernat, Lion Brand for example are worth an email with a good explanation of your precise goals and exact needs.
