Hey everyone! Hope you‘re having a good Saturday morning so far
i found this pattern for a sweater. Now, i would like to knit a top thats just „fabric“ in the front & tied together in the back, so pretty much backless. The front is supposed to be a turtle neck, basically a big triangle covering the front body … (i hope you understand what i mean, english is not my mothertongue
)
Now i am struggling with two things:
-
how to knit the pattern flat, not in the round. Since the original pattern i am using as reference (see also picture attached) is worked on circular needles, i do not quite now how to translate the stitches into right and left sides…
-
how do i increase to achieve the triangle-like shape to cover my full front body, without messing up the pattern
Thank you so much in advance for your help and sorry for bad english explanation…
What is the name of the original pattern and designer?
Sk2p is usually a double decrease but the kyok only seems to be a single increase and wouldn’t compensate for the decrease. Is there more to the pattern row or are these defined differently?
There is a purl equivalent of the double decrease which you could use on the purl rows:
For the kyok you would purl but reverse the direction of the yarn over.
For increases, you could work the increases at the stockinette sections at the edges of a repeat but you would need to keep the decrease and increase sts paired with each other. So you wouldn’t be able to work the sk2p without working the kyok (or what ever the increase is). Keep the sts in stockinette until you can work those pairs.
You might want to add a border to avoid the stockinette tendency to curl. Maybe seed stitch or garter stitch. Then your increases would be after the border on one edge and before the border on the other edge.
