Is it possible to knit two sleeves at once? Anyone know of a video I can watch on doing this to see how its done? thanks so much for any help.
Absolutely! Are you knitting them flat or in the round? If flat, just set them up side-by-side on the needle, using a different ball of yarn (or different end of the same ball) for each sleeve. If in the round, it’s a bit more complicated, but still easy once you get going. If you’ve ever done magic loop knitting, you can set the sleeves up side-by-side just like if you were doing 2 socks at once. I’m sure it’s just as easy using 2 circulars. There’s a tute for 2 socks at once on dpn’s too. Let me know which method you want and i’ll find you a tutorial.
I’ve never knit two sleeves at one time ‘in the round’…but I have knit two sleeves at one time FLAT.
Here is something I learned THE HARD WAY:
At first, you will have two sleeves on the left needle. RS facing.
Each sleeve has her own skein of yarn attached.
Now, you knit Sleeve A and come to the end of Sleeve A.
Sleeve A is now on your righthand needle.
Sleeve B awaits her turn.
But in the meantime, before you start Sleeve B…you have one sleeve on one needle, and the other sleeve on the other needle.
As you are knitting along, if you get distracted, you can easily forget to knit Sleeve B. You might turn your work around and do the backside of Sleeve A.
Oy.
I gave up doing two sleeves at once. I made the mistake of knitting Sleeve A twice, instead of giving Sleeve B her turn first.
If you decide to try, I’d suggest you place some kind of marker in the middle of Sleeve A row…to act as a ‘trigger’. You’ll be more likely to catch yourself mistakenly knitting Sleeve A twice in a row if it has a stitch marker jangling around.
I haven’t done it, but if the sleeve has shaping you may need to mirror it so watch for that.
The sleeves are suppose to be knit in the round. They recommend using dpn but I need to cast on like 100 stitches!! It’s a bell sleeve towards the bottom.
If you can find me a tutorial I’d be thrilled. Otherwise I may just try and knit them both at the same time but on different circulars and knit a little on “this one” then put that one down then knit a little on “that one” etc.
Here is the sweater if you are curious…
Oh, that would so totally be my cup of tea! Knit a little on this one…then a little on that one. But be sure to put a ‘charm’ on Sleeve A. Then you’ll know which is which.
Here are better pictures of it.

If you already now how to knit magic loop, then the only tricky thing is the cast-on. Here’s a great pictorial tutorial for that.
If you don’t already know magic loop, I’d suggest the video here on KH.
Like Jan pointed out, if there are different directions for each sleeve, or if the directions tell you to mirror one set of directions for the other sleeve, that may make things a bit tricky. But if the directions for both sleeves are the same, it shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve done this several times.
Artlady is right, though- make sure you mark the first sleeve in some way so that you make sure you never stop in between sleeves- always do the same row on BOTH sleeves before putting it down.
You can say that again!
