I really like some of the patterns in Barbara Walker’s book and would like to use one of them – falling leaves – in a triangular shawl. Does anyone know how I would do this? I am not quite sure about how I can stay in pattern and still make a triangular shawl.
What I would do is find a triangular shawl pattern, so I wouldn’t have to figure out all the increases and such.
Then you could start with one pattern repeat and increase in pattern as much as the other pattern tells you to. I think I’d probably leave an edging, too, and do the increases inside the edging.
Thanks for the message. I guess I dont understand what you are saying though. Are you saying that I should just use another pattern? Howver, I have not been able to find a pattern that I like and I would prefer to make my own.
I think she means find another triagular shawl pattern to use for the basic shaping and substitute the stitch pattern you want to use.

Oh! Ok, thanks.
Just found this page which has plain basic shawl patterns (scroll down) in various guages.
Maybe you use one and add your own stitch pattern.
